MFC Collegiate Players of the Week Awards

Each week during the 2017 season the Maxwell Football Club will recognize outstanding performances with two weekly awards. The Maxwell Award Player of the Week will be recognized for overall performance on offense, defense or special teams, and the Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week will be honored for outstanding defensive play. Players selected do not have to be represented on the Maxwell or Bednarik Award watch lists.

The players of the week are:

Maxwell Award Player of the Week – Nick Fitzgerald- Mississippi State

Fitzgerald led Mississippi State to a dominating win over SEC opponent LSU last weekend. He got it done both through the air (15-of-23 passing, 180 yards, and 2 TDs) and on the ground (14 carries, 88 yards, 2 TDs) to lead the Bulldogs to a 37-7 victory. He will need to continue his stellar play as MSU heads to Athens to take on Georgia in a Battle of the Bulldogs this Saturday.

Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week – Joejuan Williams – Vanderbilt

Williams play helped Vanderbilt pull the upset against No.18 Kansas State last weekend as he tallied 8 tackles and 3 pass breakups to hold an explosive Wildcat offense to just 10-of-28 passing for 76 yards through the air. He will need to be at his best this Saturday as Vanderbilt hosts top ranked Alabama.
