The Professional Player of the Year Award is named in honor of Bert Bell, founder of the Maxwell Football Club and once Commissioner of the National Football League.
Voters for all Maxwell Professional Awards are NFL coaching staffs and football personnel, members of the Maxwell Football Club and the Pro Writers of America Association, and local media.
The 57th Annual Bert Bell Award for Professional Player of the Year is Matt Ryan, Quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons.
Someone broaches a word and Matt Ryan laughs at the label because he’s heard it before. This was prior to Ryan being truly introduced on the world stage this past season as the NFL’s MVP, prior to being out there under the eyes of millions playing quarterback in Super Bowl LI for the Atlanta Falcons, prior to him becoming a “superstar.”
