George Munger Award
College Coach of the Year

The 20th Annual George Munger Award winner for College Coach of the Year is Mike Leach, Texas Tech.

The award is named for former University of Pennsylvania coach George Munger.  His devotion to ethics in athletics, and his commitment to education is the standard for which all college coaches should strive.

Who Votes?

Voters for the Maxwell College Awards are NCAA Head College Football Coaches, members of the Maxwell Football Club & sportswriters and sportscasters from across the country.

What His Peers Say

“Coach Leach has never been a big individual award guy.  I think the first thing that Coach would say is that this is a team and staff award,” predicts long time Texas Tech Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach Ruffin McNeill.

“Coach Leach is a tireless worker during the season,” McNeill continues.  “He has a very, very distinct passion for the game of football.”  see more...
